It’s a rare joy for a teacher to have the majority of the class eagerly raising their hands for the duration of a class period. Answering questions in religion has been a lot like fighting a hydra. For every hand that goes down, several more sprout up in its place. Fifth grade has been trying their hardest to comprehend the infinity of God, which they know is harder than fitting the ocean into a Dixie cup. Nevertheless, it is food for both mind and soul to consider His all-knowing, all-powerful, utterly-holy, eternal, creative, Trinitarian nature. Sixth grade is exploring a book series that spans 46 volumes called the Old Testament. We are carefully tracking the themes and symbolism that God slowly revealed over time to prepare us for the biggest shock in history.
