Elementary School

This is my fifth year at Christ the King School and my 20th year in education. I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and later in the Seattle area of Washington. I enjoy spending time with my family, being in nature, and playing with my dog, Fluffy. I believe that every child has unique gifts, and I love creating a classroom where students feel supported, challenged, and excited to learn. I am so excited to be a part of the Christ the King community!

I am so excited to join Christ the King School as the 1st grade teacher! I bring six years of teaching experience working with elementary-aged students and a passion for creating classrooms where children feel welcomed, supported, and excited to learn. Throughout my teaching career, I have had the opportunity to teach 1st grade, kindergarten, and science, which has helped me develop engaging lessons that encourage students’ curiosity, independence, and love of learning.

Having grown up attending Catholic school myself back home in Pennsylvania, I understand the special sense of community, faith, and belonging that Catholic education provides. I am excited to bring that experience into my classroom and help my students grow academically, socially, and spiritually throughout their first-grade year.

One of my favorite parts of teaching is helping children discover the joy of reading. I love watching the excitement on a child’s face when they discover a new book or realize they can read something independently.

Outside of school, I enjoy reading, baking, kayaking, and spending time with my family and friends. I earned my degree in Early Childhood Education from Holy Family University.

My name is Miss Rogers and I have been teaching now for seven years in both Spokane and Seattle schools. I have always had a passion for working with kids, which led me to pursue a degree in Psychology and a Masters in Teaching, both at Gonzaga University (GO ZAGS!). I truly love this age during the 2^nd Grade year because it is filled with such fun learning and even more important growth milestones! This will be my 4th year here at CKS and from my experience of going to Catholic and Jesuit schools my entire life, I can honestly say that CKS is one of the best communities that I have had the privilege of being a part of! I am really looking forward to our upcoming year together filled with such fun learning activities planned and I’m even more excited to begin making lifelong memories with all you and your wonderful kiddos as we embark on this journey together in 2^nd Grade!

During my senior year at Gonzaga University, the opportunity arose to be a corp member in Teach for America post graduation. I graduated with my Bachlor of Science in Biology degree, and I left my home state of Washingon to spend two years teaching 8th grade social studies in Dallas,TX. While in Teach for America, I discovered my passion for teaching and earned my Masters of Arts in Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Texas, but I was excited return home to Washington and join the Christ the King community.

Hello Fourth Grade Families,

My name is Rachel Fairbanks, and I am so excited to be teaching your children this year! This is my 13th year teaching at Christ the King, and I feel so fortunate to be a part of such a loving community of teachers, parents, and students. I have a B.A. in English Literature from Trinity College in Connecticut and a Masters in Education from the University of Massachusetts. I am licensed to teach both Elementary School and Middle and High School Language Arts. Before joining the CKS family, I taught First and Second Grade at St. Cecilia Catholic School on Bainbridge Island. I am a graduate of Xavier College Preparatory in Phoenix, Arizona, and I am passionate about Catholic education. 

I have a Masters in Teaching from the University of Washington and a Ph.D. in Anthropology from Case Western Reserve University in Ohio. As an anthropologist, I lived and worked in Southeast Asia, primarily Burma, Thailand, and Indonesia. I have also traveled extensively and conducted volunteer work in other parts of the world. When my two children entered elementary school, I became involved in their school, first as a volunteer and later as a consultant for Seattle Public Schools. Through this work, I discovered my true vocation as an intermediate elementary teacher. I hold a Washington State K-8 Teaching Certificate and have a highly qualified endorsement in Elementary Education. I feel very blessed to be here at Christ the King!
