About the Teacher
This is my fifth year at Christ the King School and my 20th year in education. I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and later in the Seattle area of Washington. I enjoy spending time with my family, being in nature, and playing with my dog, Fluffy. I believe that every child has unique gifts, and I love creating a classroom where students feel supported, challenged, and excited to learn. I am so excited to be a part of the Christ the King community!
Teaching Philosophy
Kindergarten is such an exciting year filled with new friends, adventures, and learning. It is my goal for your child to be excited to go to school each day and love learning. It is important to me to create a classroom environment that is welcoming, engaging, fun and safe while treating each other with kindness and respect.

Curriculum Overview
Kindergarten is an exciting year full of lots of learning! Explore each subject below.
Language Arts
We use a balanced literacy approach where students learn and develop skills related to phonics, phonemic awareness, sight words, vocabulary, writing, fluency and reading comprehension. Both fiction and nonfiction text are utilized.
Math
There are eight units total. Students learn to use numbers, including written numerals, to represent quantities and solve problems; count out a given number of objects; compare sets or numerals and model simple joining and separating situations with objects, fingers, words, actions, drawings, numbers, and equations. Students will also explore shapes and measurement.
Science
Our three units are: Weather and Sky; Push, Pull, and Go; and Living Things.
Social studies
Scholastic News Magazine is used to learn about and discuss current event topics and holidays.
Religion
Religion is infused throughout the day with Bible stories and prayers. We learn the prayers Grace Before Meals and Grace After Meals. We also participate in weekly Mass.
It is important to me to create a classroom environment that is welcoming, engaging, fun and safe while treating each other with kindness and respect.
